Our FI(H) instructors
A passionate teaching team, supporting you at every stage of your training.
Our FI(H) (Flight Instructor – Helicopter) instructors support every student, from the first discovery flight through to the PPL(H) licence, including refresher training and type ratings along the way. Each brings several thousand flight hours and complementary aeronautical experience, ensuring our DTO approval with the DGAC remains fully compliant.
Philippe Capiaumont
President / Accountable Manager / Head of Training
Passionate about anything that flies, after earning a French aeroplane pilot licence, he moved to the United States to further his training, obtaining a professional aeroplane pilot licence with a multi-engine instrument rating. Back in France, his passion for flight led him elsewhere: he became a helicopter pilot, then an instructor. To pass on his experience, both within Rotor Club Aixois and to a wider audience, he has also co-written several books dedicated to helicopters (published by Cépaduès, available on sae-aero.fr).
Mathieu Vandenavenne
Safety Officer
Mathieu joined the Rotor Club Aixois teaching team in 2015 as safety officer. He oversees the day-to-day application of the club's safety procedures and the safety management system (SMS) required of our Declared Training Organisation (DTO).
Catherine Denis Vandevelde
Compliance Officer
Catherine joined the Rotor Club Aixois teaching team in 2018 as compliance officer. She ensures that the training provided by the club remains fully compliant with European EASA regulatory requirements and with our DTO approval standards.
