Rotor Club Aixois is a non-profit association (French "loi 1901") that has brought together helicopter flying enthusiasts since 2000, at Aix-en-Provence – Les Milles aerodrome. Approved as a Declared Training Organisation (DTO) by the DGAC, the club trains private pilots for the PPL(H), supported by a team of certified FI(H) instructors, flying a fleet of recent helicopters. Is Rotor Club Aixois a private school or an association?
Rotor Club Aixois is a non-profit association (French "loi 1901"), approved as a Declared Training Organisation (DTO) by the DGAC. This non-profit status brings together passionate pilots around a shared goal — helicopter flight training and flying — rather than a purely commercial approach.
Where is the club based?
The club is based at Aix-en-Provence – Les Milles aerodrome (13290), in Provence, France. All our discovery flights, training courses and member outings take off from this airfield.
How do I join Rotor Club Aixois?
The best way to discover the club is to book a discovery flight. If you're already a helicopter pilot trained elsewhere, a check flight with one of our instructors confirms your level before you join the club and get access to aircraft rental.
Which helicopters can I fly at Rotor Club Aixois?
Our fleet has three aircraft: the R44 Cadet and the Cabri G2, both two-seaters, for discovery flights and a student's first solo hours, and the R44 Clipper II, a four-seater, for flying with several people at once.
Who are your instructors?
Our teaching team has 3 certified FI(H) instructors: Philippe Capiaumont, President and Head of Training, Mathieu Vandenavenne, Safety Officer, and Catherine Denis Vandevelde, Compliance Officer — who ensure our DTO approval with the DGAC remains fully compliant.
Does the club organise outings or events for members?
Yes, club members regularly organise outings together: flights to restaurants reachable by helicopter, group cross-country flights, or simple leisure flights among rotorcraft enthusiasts.
