The Club

Our history

Since 2000, Rotor Club Aixois has brought together rotorcraft enthusiasts in Aix-en-Provence.

Founded in 2000 at Aix-en-Provence – Les Milles aerodrome, Rotor Club Aixois is a non-profit association (French "loi 1901") dedicated to helicopter flight training and to a shared passion for rotorcraft. Now a Declared Training Organisation (DTO) approved by the DGAC, the club trains private pilots for the PPL(H) with a team of certified instructors and a fleet of recent helicopters. Here are the key milestones in our history.

  1. 1 January 2000

    Rotor Club Aixois is founded

    The club is founded by our president, Philippe Capiaumont, as a non-profit association (French "loi 1901") whose purpose is to bring together everyone passionate about rotorcraft.

  2. 1 January 2015

    The instructor team grows

    Mathieu Vandenavenne joins the club's teaching team as safety officer.

  3. 13 April 2016

    ATO approval

    Rotor Club Aixois obtains its ATO (Approved Training Organisation) approval! In addition to PPL(H) training, the club can now issue type ratings on the H300 and R44.

  4. 1 August 2018

    The instructor team grows

    Catherine Denis Vandevelde joins the club's teaching team as compliance officer.

  5. 26 March 2019

    The ATO expands with the Bell 206

    The club now offers its pilots the H300, R44 Cadet, R44 Clipper and Bell 206.

  6. 9 January 2022

    The H300 F-HBEE departs

    After many years of loyal service, the F-HBEE's owner, SUN AERO, decided to sell the H300.

  7. 2022

    The Cabri G2 F-HHGB arrives

    The Cabri G2 F-HHGB joins the ATO, replacing the recently departed Hughes 300.
